Privacy Policy
Sylk is a social app for sharing short videos and photos. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices. We keep it short and plain because the data we handle is straightforward.
Information we collect
- Account — an email or phone number, a username, a display name, and a password (stored only as a salted hash, never in plain text). If you sign in with Apple, we receive a stable Apple identifier and any relay email you choose to share.
- Content you create — the videos, photos, captions, comments, and direct messages you post or send, plus reactions and the sounds you attach.
- Activity — likes, follows, views, and similar signals, which we use to rank your feed and show you content you are more likely to enjoy.
- Notifications — if you enable push notifications, a device token used solely to deliver them; you can turn categories on or off in Settings.
- Basic technical data — limited app and server logs needed to operate and secure the service.
How we use it
- To provide the app: show your feed, deliver messages, run search and hashtags, and personalize recommendations from your activity.
- To send the notifications you have enabled.
- To keep the community safe — operate reporting, blocking, and content moderation.
- To secure the service and prevent abuse.
How it is stored and shared
- Sylk runs on a private, operator-controlled server. We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not use third-party advertising or tracking SDKs.
- We share data only with the infrastructure needed to run the app — for example, Apple's Push Notification service to deliver notifications you turned on.
User-generated content & safety
Sylk hosts content from its users. We do not tolerate objectionable content or abusive behavior. You can report any post, comment, or message and block any user; reported content is reviewed and removed when it violates our Terms & Community Guidelines. Acceptance of those terms is required to create an account.
Your choices & rights
- Notifications — choose which categories you receive in Settings, or turn them off in iOS Settings.
- Blocking — block any user to stop all interaction both ways.
- Access & deletion — you can delete your account and all of its content at any time inside the app: Settings → Delete account. Deletion is permanent and immediate, removing your posts, messages, comments, and profile from the service. You can also request a copy of your data by contacting us at the address below.
Children
Sylk is not directed to children under 13, and you must be at least 13 (or the age of digital consent in your region) to use it.
Security
Passwords are stored hashed, traffic is encrypted in transit (HTTPS), and access to the server is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your data.
Changes
We may update this policy as the app evolves; we will revise the date above when we do. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
